Domestic Orientation Program

For transferees who have found or moved to their new home, the domestic orientation program was designed to help individuals and their families create a comfortable lifestyle in New Jersey. From appointment scheduling and utility set-up assistance to area familiarization and assistance with establishing vital professional and personal connections, our specialists address the individual needs of each relocating family, and provide continuing support after the initial move-in period.

Preparation:

• Pre-meeting telephone contact
• Custom information package including maps, state driver’s manual, school profiles, pre-schools choices, public transportation, recreational, local periodicals, and service provider information geared to the transferee’s community
• Appointments with schools, child care facilities, service providers
• Utility set-up
• School registration process

Orientation Meeting:

• Accompany to Division of Motor Vehicles and assist with licensing
• Accompany to local places of interest (municipal services, local hospitals, places of worship, shopping, route to work, etc.)
• Introduction to support groups and networking opportunities

Post-move:

• Resource support for the first three months
